Integrating CSI Sensing in Wireless Networks: Challenges to Privacy and Countermeasures

01 January 2022 Renato Lo Cigno, Francesco Gringoli, Marco Cominelli

This paper examines a growing problem in wireless networking: CSI sensing can enable useful services, but it can also create new ways to localise, track, or infer information about people and environments without authorisation.

That makes it clearly relevant to cybersecurity. The work looks at how sensing can be integrated into wireless systems without undermining privacy and security, identifying the boundary between network innovation and new radio-level abuse surfaces.
