Legal Limits to Technological Developments in Defence

On April 10, 2024, Giorgio Pedrazzi took part in the seminar Legal Limits to Technological Developments in Defence, with a talk focused on strategies and rules governing the military use of drones and artificial intelligence across the United States and the European Union.

The seminar placed the legal and governance side of emerging technologies at the centre of the discussion, focusing on rules, responsibility, and limits around highly autonomous systems used in sensitive settings.

It highlighted a concrete overlap between law, security, and dual-use scenarios, where technological choices cannot be separated from institutional and normative consequences.
